Radiesse is one of the longest lasting injectables used for soft tissue augmentation in the correction of deep facial folds and creases and restoration of volume loss in hollow facial areas. Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in gel. Because calcium hydroxylapatite is a normal constituent of bone, it should not elicit a chronic inflammatory or immune response and does not require allergy testing. Radiesse is a safe, effective, and non-surgical treatment, which provides immediate smoothing out of wrinkles and most scars.
Radiesse has proven to be a very versatile facial contouring product and has demonstrated durable augmentation in areas such as chin and cheek where a larger volume is required. It maintains a soft, natural feel and takes on the characteristics of the surrounding skin tissue. The areas that respond best to treatment are naso-labial folds (laugh lines), peri-oral lines (around the mouth), depressed scars, and oral commissures (corners of the lips).
WHAT ARE RADIESSE TREATMENTS LIKE?
With Dr. Mejia’s special technique, an injection of Radiesse (Radiance) is nearly painless. We use our strong blend of topical anesthetic cream prior to the procedure (or dental block if necessary). Dr. Mejia then carefully injects Radiesse into the wrinkles with a tiny needle. The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes. Following the procedure, patients may immediately return back to daily activities, however, treatment sights may be slightly swollen and/or bruised for approximately 24 hours.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Radiesse should provide a long lasting correction; however individual results may vary, affected by age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity. Depending on the areas treated, most of the correction may last for 18 months. Touch up treatments may be necessary at 9 months.
While Radiesse treatments are safe and effective, it’s important to consult with Dr. Mejia to understand all of your treatment options. Each person is unique, as are their treatment options.
