Radiesse®

Radiesse is one of the longest lasting injectables used in the correction of deep facial folds and creases, as well as the restoration of volume loss in certain hollow facial areas. Radiesse is a safe, effective, and non-surgical treatment which provides immediate smoothing out of wrinkles and most scars. It is also an excellent treatment for hand rejuvenation.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in gel. Because calcium hydroxylapatite is a normal constituent of bone, it should not elicit a chronic inflammatory or immune response and does not require allergy testing. Radiesse should provide a long-lasting correction; however individual results may vary, affected by age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity. Depending on the areas treated, most of the correction may last for 18 months. Touch up treatments may be necessary at 9 months.

What Does Radiesse Treat?

Radiesse has proven to be a very versatile facial contouring product and has demonstrated durable augmentation in areas such as chin and cheek where a larger volume is required. It maintains a soft, natural feel and takes on the characteristics of the surrounding skin tissue. The areas that respond best to treatment are nasolabial folds, perioral lines, indented scars, and aging hands.

What Should I Expect from Treatment?

With Ricardo Mejia, MD‘s special technique, an injection of Radiesse is nearly painless. We use our strong blend of topical anesthetic cream prior to the procedure. Ricardo Mejia, MD then carefully injects Radiesse into the wrinkles with a tiny needle. The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes. Following the procedure, patients may immediately return to daily activities, however, treatment sights may be slightly swollen and/or bruised for approximately 24 hours.
