What is Juvéderm XC?
Juvederm XC is a smooth hyaluronic acid based filler that we use at JDHR. It instantly smooths away wrinkles around your mouth and nose. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to one year. Juvederm XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS® technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine which is a numbing agent used to improve comfort during treatment.
What Does Juvéderm XC Treat?
With Juvéderm XC you get the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want. Everyone’s skin ages differently and Juvéderm XC may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. Juvéderm XC has been shown to improve the appearance of:
- Smile lines – Smile lines or the “parentheses” at the corners of the mouth, can be filled in with the use of Juvéderm XC.
- Marionette lines (Nasolabial Folds) – Marionette lines are the lines and folds that run from the sides of the nose to the sides of the mouth. Juvéderm XC can be used to soften these lines and replace volume.

What Should I Expect from Treatment?
A topical numbing cream is applied for 15 to 20 minutes prior to treatment. Treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to perform. The treatments involve very small needles, and are virtually painless due to the numbing cream and Ricardo Mejia, MD‘s gentle injection technique. Since Juvéderm XC is an injectable gel and non-surgical, most patients experience minimal recovery and downtime. Most side effects are mild and last less than one week including redness, tenderness, or swelling at the site of the injection.
