About Hobe Sound, FL
Hobe Sound is an unincorporated area and census designated place in the Martin County of Florida. It is part of the Port St. Lucie Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is an exurban area in Southern Martin County near the Atlantic Ocean, stretching along the coast between Port Salerno and Jonathan Dickinson State Park, not including Jupiter Island. The name Hobe Sound comes from the name of the Jove or Jobe Indians, which was one of the Native American groups that inhabited the area before European settlement. Due to its proximity to the coast, Hobe Sound offers immediate access to the Atlantic Ocean and the deep channeled Intracoastal Waterway which is a 1900 KM water route providing a sheltered passage for boats along the eastern seaboard.
