Facials and Microdermabrasion

Facials and microdermabrasion can provide treatment for superficial skin concerns for a rejuvenated appearance. A facial and microdermabrasion are less aggressive than other treatment options for healthier looking skin.

What is a Facial with Microdermabrasion?

A facial with microdermabrasion works to resurface and exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. Tiny crystals are sprayed onto the skin and a minimally abrasive tool is used to exfoliate away dead and damaged skin, leaving a healthier, smooth face. After microdermabrasion, collagen is thickened for stronger skin that looks and feels younger.

Who is a Candidate for Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is an effective option for all skin types and tones. Candidates for microdermabrasion are those who suffer from one or more of the following skin concerns:

  • Age spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines
  • Large pores
  • Mild acne

A dermatologist will examine your skin and discuss your concerns to determine if you will be a good candidate for a facial with microdermabrasion.

What to Expect During Treatment

Unlike dermabrasion which is more aggressive, microdermabrasion does not require anesthesia. During treatment, the skin will be sprayed with tiny crystals and a wand-like tool will be used to exfoliate the outer layers of skin. Treatment is generally comfortable with patients reporting a mild scratching during the exfoliation process. One treatment session should take about 30 minutes.

After treatment, there is no downtime. Your skin might be pink and feel similar to a sunburn the following day. You can notice immediate results from your facial with microdermabrasion with more vibrant, even-looking skin. Many patients choose to continue to have treatment with microdermabrasion to maintain healthy skin.
