Earlobe Repair
After years of wearing heavy earrings or after wearing earrings that stretch your earlobes, the skin can become stretched or even tear. Luckily, our dermatologist at Jupiter Dermatology & Hair Restoration can easily repair these tissue tears in office.
What is Earlobe Repair?
Earlobe repair is the repair of the earlobe tissue after it has been stretched or torn past the point of healing on its own. This often bothers patients aesthetically, and prevents them from wearing of earrings or may just make them feel self-conscious.
How is the Earlobe Repaired?
Earlobe repair for torn earlobes is a quick process that takes about 30 minutes and requires only a local anesthetic for your comfort. If you plan on wearing earrings again, it is recommended that you bring a 14K gold post earring to inserted at the time of repair to maintain the piercing. Once complete, the 14K gold post(s) must stay in for six weeks while the ear heals.
Earlobe Repair Recovery
For an easy recovery, dissolvable sutures are used for the repair. You will be able to immediately resume everyday activities that do not place tension on the ear. Sutures will dissolve in about 1-2 weeks, leaving you with a normal looking earlobe once again.
