Hyaluronic Acid – A Molecule That Gives Volume To The Face
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance that occurs in our body, skin and joints and tissues. It functions like a lubricant for our joints. In our skin, it shows as the volume that we have. That is why many creams to find the fountain of youth to lessen wrinkles contain hyaluronic acid.
In this video Dr. Mejia explains the difference between injecting hyaluronic acid and creams that contain hyaluronic acid and why those creams may not necessarily work to reduce the amount of wrinkles. Of course, if you put any cream vs not any at all, your skin will look more hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is a water absorbing molecule and when you do put it on your skin, it provides moisturization to your skin to the top layer of your skin does give you a more youthful look. Juvederm Voluma XC Demonstration – The Instant Cheek Filler
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Juvederm Voluma XC is a modified form of hyaluronic acid that is naturally in your body. It is an injectable targeted to the cheek area to enhance the areas of volume loss due to aging. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a substance that is common in many tissues of the body such as skin and cartilage. It keeps skin moisturized and soft.
Before and After Juvederm Voluma:
Voluma is a game changer when it comes to aesthetics. Instead of looking at your head on to do a consultation, Voluma is more of a three dimensional approach where the doctor looks at the volume loss in the cheeks. Many patients complain about the nasal labial fold and the marionette lines(near the lips) as to what is bothering them, but it is really the volume loss in the cheeks that is causing the issue.
In this video, Dr. Mejia demonstrates the procedure on a patient when we had an open house at the office. Topical numbing was placed on the area prior to the injection. Juvederm Voluma XC also contains a small quantity of local anesthetic.
Some key points about Juvederm Voluma XC:
- It is the only hyaluronic acid that has a two year indication by the FDA.
- It is the #1 filler in the world and it is the fastest growing aesthetic product in the history of aesthetics.
- You can see a 32% reduction in nasal labial folds.
- You can have a 56% reduction in tear trough(below the eyes) just by getting the volume in the cheeks.
The difference between Juvederm Voluma XC and Juvederm:
Voluma has an indication of the cheeks because of the way the product is made. It is a hyla molecular structure. So it is almost like a liquid implant and is specifically designed for the Doctor to inject deep into the bone. Juvederm on the other hand is also a hylarunoic acid, but it is more for soft tissue in the nasal labial folds and the marionette areas and the periorial lines(below the nose).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

TNS Recovery Complex Benefits For Skin Procedures
TNS Recovery Complex is human growth factors or protein. Humans have growth factors when we are born and as we age, we lose them. They take a greater amount of time to heal. TNS Recovery Complex allows growth factors to produce more collagen which allows to lift, firm, tighten, and help to consistently plump new skin. It is typically used for the face, neck, and chest.
Mainly used as an anti aging product but is also a must have after a laser or peal procedure because it helps greatly with the healing process. After one month of using this product, the texture in skin will improve as well as noticeable reduction in fine lines and deep lines of the skin.
After three months a sixty percent growth of collagen in the “grin zone” area of the face occurs. Clients mention that this product holds moisture and hydrates the skin the best.

Dysport vs Botox: What are the Similarities & Differences
One of the questions we had at an event was “Dysport vs Botox , which is better?” Dysport is an alternative to Botox and works very similar in many respects. Botox is the original product that came out. In this video, Dr Mejia explains how Dysport and Botox can be compared to one’s preference between Coke and Pepsi.
At our office, they are used interchangeably. Dr Mejia advises to be aware that concerning cost Botox and Dysport are pretty much the same, but you would need two and a half to three times the amount of units of Dysport to equal Botox. Many advertisements for Dysport will say only X amount a unit, but you have to double or triple that number and it roughly comes out to the same prices as mentioned as Botox.
CO2 Fractional Laser Demonstration
CO2 Fractional Laser delivers high energy beam to smooth out lines, wrinkles and scars, and remove brown spots and other irregularities. CO2 laser treats penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates the growth of new collagen. In this video, Dr. Mejia demonstrates this laser resurfacing procedure on a male patient.
The laser machine used is the Lumenis.
Lumenis offers a longer, near infrared wavelength where light penetration into tissue reaches its maximum depth. The CO2 laser provides uniform clinical effect with minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Its rapid, high-energy pulse makes it the coldest and cleanest ablative laser available today.
