Your Guide To Skincare In Your 50s

Skincare is vital, no matter what age you are. Surely by the time you are in your fifties, you have a skincare routine. However, this is the time in life when aging signs become prevalent, causing you to look older than you are. To keep your skin looking as youthful as possible, it is important to implement a good skincare routine that keeps the skin moisturized, tight, and smooth. Here are some steps to taking care of your skin in your fifties.

Make Sure To Moisturize

You have properly heard it a million times throughout your life, but moisturizer is key to good skin. A moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated and helps it glow. Especially if you spend time in colder climates, moisturizer will be key to avoiding flaky, cracking skin. Even when you wash your face, utilize a moisturizing cleanser. At Jupiter Dermatology & Hair Restoration, we have a variety of skincare products, including moisturizers, to help keep your skin stay hydrated.

Use Face Serums

Unfortunately, as aging sets in, the skin stops producing hyaluronic acid and collagen. Both of these natural substances are basic structures for the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps the skin to retain moisture and stay hydrated, plus it adds volume to the skin for a plumper look. Collagen is a fundamental protein that is the primary component of connective tissues in the skin. To help restore the lost collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin, use daily face serums made from these substances. Plus, if you look for a serum that contains an antioxidant it will fight free radicals as well. This will help your skin to look brighter and younger.

Apply a Nightly Cream

During the daytime using a face serum is great before applying moisturizer and sunblock. At night, however, go to bed wearing a nightly face cream. Make sure the face cream has important ingredients, like retinoid, as this is an anti-aging substance that will help to hide wrinkles and fine lines. As with face cleansers, the night cream should be moisturizing as well to not dry out your skin. If you have sensitive skin, this is especially important.

Face Treatments

If you want to truly rejuvenate your skin, consider getting a facial treatment with our Jupiter Dermatology team. We offer various facials, chemical peels, and injectable treatments.

Facials are recommended for regular skincare as they remove impurities and clear the pores. They can also remove age spots, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. At Jupiter Dermatology we offer facials with microdermabrasion for comprehensive skin treatment.

Chemical peels are great for removing the damaged, aged layers of skin so that you can start with a fresh layer. We offer three types of chemical peels: the superficial peel, medium peel, and deep peel. Depending on your skin concerns, each peel will be beneficial in a different way.

Lastly, injectable treatments are minimally invasive cosmetic procedures that work to smooth out wrinkles and lines, add volume to the skin, and help plump up sagging skin. Injectable treatments range from neuromodulators like Botox to dermal fillers like Juvéderm. Our team will recommend the best type for you based on your concerns and lifestyle.

Our Skincare Picks for Keeping Your Skin in Tip Top Shape Between In-Office Treatments

Professional services at a dermatologists’ office like Jupiter Dermatology are by far the most effective way to keep your skin healthy and avoid signs of aging. However, you can’t always make it into regular dermatologist appointments, and it’s important to maintain your skin on a day-to-day basis. The best way to ensure your skin’s health at home is by investing in high-quality products. Here are the steps that our dermatologists recommend for your at-home skincare.

Cleanser

The right cleanser for you varies by your skin type and concerns. For example, those with acne should likely use a cleanser that includes ingredients like salicylic acid, while dry skin types are better suited to less harsh cleansers. Regardless of the product your dermatologist recommends, the Clarisonic Skincare Brush is an effective tool for almost everyone. This brush helps to more effectively and deeply cleanse your skin and unclog pores.

Toner

Toners are a commonly misunderstood product. A facial toner should be applied after cleanser and before moisturizing or applying serums and other treatments. Simply put, toners thoroughly cleanse the skin of any oils or impurities that may have been left behind after washing your face. They also help to balance the pH of your skin. There are a variety of toners available for various skin types and concerns. Some of our favorites include:

Serum, Retinol, and Treatments

After you apply toner, you may include additional products that are more tailored to your individual needs.

Serums, like SkinMedica TNS Essential Serum, help to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin and can be applied in both the morning and evening. Most serums have a somewhat watery, liquid texture, and can be used to improve signs of aging or create a more even, bright appearance.

Retinol is a powerful anti-aging product that should only be applied at night. If you’re new to retinol, start out by using these products only a few days a week. Some of our favorite retinol products include Retin A and SkinMedica Retinol Complex 0.5.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer is essential for morning and nighttime skincare routines. Our dermatologists recommend a range of moisturizers to suit multiple skin types. Even if you have oily or acne skin, it’s important to moisturize so that your skin remains balanced and hydrated.

Some of our favorite moisturizers include EltaMD Moisturizer and SkinMedica Ultra Sheer Moisturizer.

SPF

Daily SPF is important for reducing your chance of skin cancer and avoiding sun damage or early signs of aging. Regardless of the season, you should always apply SPF to your face, neck, and chest. Most dermatologists recommend that you wear SPF 30 or higher. Some of our favorite products include Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense and EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF.

The Benefits of Getting Regular Facials

Facials are a great way to take care of yourself and your skin. The physical results from regular facials can include a more youthful, radiant, and clear complexion. Facials are also good for your general well-being, as they are known to promote a more stress-free mental state. Taking time to show yourself a little TLC can have massive impacts, both internal and external!

Improve Blood Circulation

Facials help to improve blood circulation. By doing so, your cells get an uptick of oxygen and nutrients that are carried in the bloodstream. This helps to make the cells healthier and operate more efficiently. It also increases cell turnover, which results in a glowing complexion!

Prevents Aging

As we age, our body slows down on the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin, all of which help your skin retain a more youthful look. Facials use massages, serums, and exfoliating techniques that help to boost the production of these substances. This both prevents and can reverse signs of aging.

Detox Your Skin

Detoxing is a great way to help you feel refreshed and peaceful. Facials help to detox the skin with different serums that will remove dirt and impurities. The detox process for your skin aids in your beauty but also keeps your skin healthy. This will allow you to feel more confident in your appearance!

Helps You De-Stress

One of the biggest benefits of getting regular facials is that as an act of self-care, it allows you to destress. This allows some time for deep breathing, reflection, and solitude. Many patients feel relaxed and at ease after receiving a facial. This is not only good for your skin but also for your heart and mental health.

Facials can be an integral part of achieving ultimate skin health, radiance, and a feeling of peacefulness. Not only will your skin look great, but even more importantly, you’ll feel great! If you are ready for your personalized consultation, please give us a call or fill out our consultation request form.

You Asked, We Answered! Top 10 Questions about Botox

Known for its effectiveness and natural results, Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Still, many people have questions about this treatment even though it is relatively common. While no amount of reading compares to an individualized consultation with a licensed medical professional, here are a few answers to some frequently asked questions about Botox.

What is Botox used for?

Botox has a wide variety of uses and is used to treat anything from excessive sweating to migraines.  Its most well-known and common use, however, is for cosmetic purposes. Botox can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in the face and neck.

How long does Botox last?

Botox is a temporary solution to treat fine lines and wrinkles. It typically lasts between three and six months.

Does Botox slow down aging?

While Botox lessens the appearance of wrinkles, it does not reverse them entirely. However, treatment can prevent fine lines from growing deeper and more noticeable. This is a large reason we have seen an increase in patients in their twenties, thirties, and forties as a form of preventative aging.

When should you start getting Botox?

There is no magic number when you should start getting Botox. If you have wrinkles that are starting to get etched in the skin when you are not moving those muscles (known as dynamic wrinkles) then it is time for Botox. However, once these wrinkles have formed, it is much harder to get rid of them than to prevent them from happening in the first place. Some choose to use Botox to prevent wrinkles from developing by starting in their twenties. Everyone is different, so schedule a consult on when the right time to start Botox is for you.

Can Botox lift brows?

Botox can be used for what is called a “Botox brow lift.” It works by relaxing specific muscles around the eye area. The position of your brow is partially determined by the balance between a group of muscles that pull the brow up and a group of muscles that pull the brow down. The position of the lateral brow is determined by the upwards pull of the frontalis muscle in the forehead against the downward pull of the lateral orbicularis muscle around the eye. With this treatment, the brows are lifted and appear smoother and more youthful.

Where does Botox go when it wears off?

Botox works by relaxing the point of specific muscles connected to nerves. Within a few months, the body develops new, unaffected nerves and metabolizes the Botox. This process is safe and natural.

Can Botox make your face numb?

Botox is not an anesthetic, meaning it won’t make your face numb to touch. However, you may experience a different feeling in that area because of your new inability to move specific muscles.

What are the side effects of Botox?

Generally, cosmetic patients can experience only mild and tolerable side effects following Botox treatment. These include possible bruising or swelling at the injection site, minor pain, headache, a fever or chills. These are temporary, usually subsiding within a few days.

How should I prep for Botox?

If approved by your medical provider, two weeks before your Botox appointment avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, fish oil, and other blood thinners. You should also avoid alcohol for three days prior to procedure. It may also help to increase your levels of vitamin K, found in dark leafy greens, to decrease or prevent bruising.

What should I avoid after Botox?

After Botox, it’s most important to avoid touching the area to prevent the product from spreading. It’s also best to avoid intense exercise or facial treatments in the first 24 hours after receiving Botox. Consult with Dr. Mejia for more after-care information.

When injected by a certified injector, Botox can produce amazing results, sometimes taking up to 10 years off your appearance. Request a consultation with Dr. Mejia or one of his physician assistants to learn more about smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and start on your own custom treatment.

Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Safe?

Laser skin resurfacing is a very effective cosmetic procedure that can help get rid of age spots, acne scars, blemishes, and wrinkles. Although this procedure is notorious for its success, the amount of information available is immense and can be hard to wade through. Our goal is to inform you without having you feel overwhelmed. Here are some starting basics to know about laser skin resurfacing.

Types of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing comes in quite a few forms with each one targeting a specific problem.

These types of lasers include:

  • Ablative lasers
  • Non-ablative lasers
  • Fractional lasers
  • CO2 lasers
  • Erbium lasers
  • Alexandrite lasers

What to Expect

Prior to treatment, Dr. Mejia needs to know your medical history including any medications you are currently taking. You will be prescribed antibiotics and also medication to prevent blister formation. You should stop taking certain medications and supplements two weeks prior to your procedure, those of which we will tell you in-office. Since smoking can slow the healing process, you will need to stop at least a week prior to undergoing treatment.

How is it performed?

After anesthetizing the skin, the laser is applied. Depending on the type of laser and depth of treatment, it may feel like a rubber band being snapped against your skin. Non-ablative lasers usually only require topical anesthetic for comfort. Since ablative lasers remove layers of skin, patients may need both local anesthesia and sedation during treatment, depending on the depth. Your comfort is of utmost importance, so the kind of anesthetics used will be discussed prior to treatment depending on your concerns and goals.

Suitable Candidates

The best candidate for laser skin resurfacing is in overall good health and has realistic expectations about the possible results. In addition, they may have the following skin concerns, which include:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Premature jowl formation

Certain skin tones or those with acne flares may not be suitable candidates for ablative laser skin resurfacing. In addition, patients who are prone to cold sores or smoke should avoid ablative skin laser treatments. In any of these cases, we can discuss best treatment options for optimal results.

Recovery

After the laser skin resurfacing procedure, your skin usually takes three to 10 days to heal. The recovery period depends on the depth of your laser treatment, the number of areas treated, and how fast your body begins to heal itself.

On a side note, it’s normal if your skin becomes red and eventually peels after skin lasering. To minimize discomfort and promote healing, it’s recommended you keep the treatment areas moist with Aquaphor or Vaseline.

How Safe is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

When performed by a board-certified dermatologist, laser skin resurfacing is quite safe. However, it’s important to only have the procedure performed by someone who is skilled in both non-ablative and ablative laser treatments.

Follow-Up Care

Even after the initial recovery period, it’s important to protect your skin. Always apply sunscreen, even when it’s cloudy outside. UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds and harm your skin.

Reverse the Effects of Aging with Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser Skin Resurfacing in Jupiter, FL

Your skin goes through a lot over the years. Sun and wind exposure, harsh skin care products, repeated facial expressions, and the effects of gravity catch up to us all eventually, resulting in some of the first signs of aging. This includes brown spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and a rough or dull texture. You can’t stop the aging process, but with noninvasive skin care treatments like laser skin resurfacing, you can restore your youthful glow!

How the aging process works

Before you can understand how laser resurfacing works, it helps to dive into what makes our skin age. The key to youthful looking skin is strong collagen. Collagen is produced in the deeper layers of the skin and provides the framework for strong healthy skin while helping to retain moisture. Unfortunately, our collagen production slows as we age, beginning to decrease as early as our 20s! You might not see it’s effects until later as your skin begins to weaken, becoming susceptible to fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, and an overall dull appearance. Repeated facial expressions like smiling, laughing, and frowning also contribute to weakened skin, worsening fine lines and wrinkles.

How laser resurfacing can help

If the key to strong healthy skin is collagen, then the best way to achieve younger-looking skin is to stimulate its production at the source! Using precise laser light wavelengths, laser skin resurfacing can target and heat deeper layers of skin to promote new collagen production. At the same time, the very outer layer of skin is treated, resulting in the removal of dead skin cells to reveal smoother skin beneath. The combination of new cell generation and collagen production can treat a variety of your skin concerns from surface level spots to deeper wrinkles.

When to expect results

After your laser resurfacing treatment, you can expect some mild side effects for the first few days. These include itching, swelling, and stinging similar to a sunburn. While there’s no required downtime after treatment, you’ll want to take care of your new skin while it heals to ensure the most successful results. Because your new skin will be extra sensitive, avoiding over exposure to the sun and wearing sunscreen when outdoors is very important. This skin sensitivity can last for several months.

After your skin has healed, you can enjoy the results of your laser skin resurfacing treatment. With dead skin cells removed your skin will look and feel smoother. Pigmentation that was broken up during the treatment process will begin to fade over time. As your body produces new collagen over the next few weeks, you can expect your fine lines and wrinkles to begin smoothing out for a more youthful appearance.

How to maintain youthful-looking skin

Laser skin resurfacing can reverse some of the effects that aging has had on your skin, but it can’t prevent future signs of aging from occurring. However, there are some simple things you can do to maintain the results of your treatment! The best thing you can do is limit your time in the sun. The sun and tanning beds can greatly speed up your collagen loss and the aging process. When outdoors, always have sunscreen on and avoid the sun midday when it is most intense.

Aside from avoiding the sun, you also need to establish a healthy skin care routine. At Jupiter Dermatology, we offer a variety of skin care products to protect and enhance your skin. Depending on your unique concerns, one of our experts can recommend which products you should be using to maintain the appearance of your skin after treatment.

Eventually, you may choose to have a second laser skin resurfacing procedure to restore your skin’s appearance again. Or you can opt for one of our other many skin rejuvenation options like microneedling, facials, or fillers to add instant volume.

How to get started

If you experience the first signs of aging in the face, neck, and chest with brown spots, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, or an uneven skin tone, you could benefit from laser skin resurfacing. However, only a professional skin care expert can determine the right treatment for you after examining your skin and discussing your concerns.

If you’re looking for an experienced skin care expert to perform your laser skin resurfacing treatment in the Jupiter, FL area, contact Jupiter Dermatology and Hair Restoration today! We can schedule your consultation to begin developing your treatment plan for healthier, younger-looking skin.

Preventing Dry Skin: A Guide

Most people experience dryness during the winter months, but severe dryness can have some not-so-fun consequences! This can make it seem like you can’t win, but there are some steps you should be sure to take during the winter months to ensure your skin stays healthy and moisturized. Taking steps to keep skin moisturized and hydrated, no matter the climate, is important to prevent signs of premature aging, as well as discomfort. These are some of the best ways to prevent painful, flaky, and cracked skin.

Consult your regimen

Like your wardrobe, it’s common to switch out your skincare regimen as the seasons change. This is because different seasons bring different concerns. If you find that your skin has become dry and flaky, it might be time to take stock of your moisturizer and any actives you’re using. If your moisturizer doesn’t seem to be doing enough, you should consider finding a heavier alternative (non-comedogenic, oil-based moisturizers containing humectants can retain moisture better, in some cases). If your skin is acne-prone, however, you should be sure to get a recommendation from your dermatologist first. It’s also important to assess whether any active ingredients in your regimen like retinols or BHA’s might also be contributing to dry skin as well, and consider changing them out for gentler grades or stop using them. If your skin has become flaky, you might benefit from physically exfoliating regularly to ensure that your skin can effectively absorb your moisturizing products.

Change your habits and environment

Even though you might not be able to change the weather, you can make sure your home environment is one that can benefit your skin. Most patients benefit from a humidifier in their sleeping area so that the air doesn’t become overly-dry. Additionally, avoiding smoky fireplaces can be a good step in ensuring your skin isn’t exposed to more dry air. Although it can be tempting to take a hot, steamy shower, intense heat from showers or baths can break down the moisture barriers in the skin. This can contribute to a loss of natural moisture, leading to increased dryness. So, try to keep your showers or baths short, or stick with warm water. And, as always, drink plenty of water!

Don’t forget your sunscreen

Although many people don’t consider it, you can still be exposed to UV rays during the winter. It’s always important to wear sun protection factor, but it’s especially important during the winter when sunburn and sun damage can contribute to dryness and make it difficult for your skin to recover its natural moisture. This becomes even more important if you’re traveling to higher altitudes for the winter— many skiers experience sunburn in the winter because of being closer to the sun, a thinner atmosphere, and the misconception of not needing sunscreen. Don’t forget to make sure that your lip protectants also contain SPF.

Reduce itchiness

Where there’s dryness, itchiness usually follows. However, this can create a vicious cycle where itchiness causes additional flakiness and dryness. For this reason, it’s important to avoid further damaging the skin by applying plenty of unscented moisturizer and anti-itch ingredients like hydrocortisone. It’s best to do this immediately after bathing or washing so that your skin still has natural moisture from water that can be sealed in by your skincare products. For even more effective treatment, a layer of petroleum jelly applied over top of your moisturizer can help prevent its effects from being lost to dry air. Many patients benefit from doing this as an overnight treatment to avoid bothering the area.

Find the right mask

If you regularly treat your skin with masks, or even if you don’t, it can be worth it to find one that provides a moisture boost with the right ingredients. The best ones provide plenty of vitamins and oils, hyaluronic acid, and can help boost your skin’s collagen and elastin production— all of these things contribute to healthy, moisturized skin. If your skin is sensitive to dryness and irritation, masks containing oatmeal can help sooth the skin and reduce itchiness. These mask treatments can work best when paired with your exfoliating treatments or as a sleeping mask to help rejuvenate your skin overnight.

Try professional treatments

There are a few professional-grade treatments that can help to repair your skin, restore moisture, and augment your at-home care. Deeply-exfoliating treatments like chemical peels or microdermabrasion can help remove dead, dry skin cells, revealing healthy ones underneath. This means your skin can better absorb moisturizing products and repair itself more easily, so regular treatments can help you maintain healthy skin over the course of winter.

Meet with our skincare specialists

If you’re experiencing extensive dryness and cracking, a skincare consultation with our experts can be a great step towards healing your skin. We can assess your at-home regimen, recommend professional treatments, and create a treatment plan using our physician-grade skincare products. Common Questions About the IPL PhotoFacial, Answered

When you look in the mirror, are you starting to notice that your skin doesn’t look as youthful as it used to? Throughout our lives, our skin is exposed to many different factors, including the sun and free radicals. The natural aging process and genetics can also take a toll on how our skin ages. At Jupiter Dermatology, we offer an effective, nonsurgical solution to common signs of aging with the IPL Photofacial treatment. Read on to learn more about this treatment and what it can do for you.

How Does the IPL Photofacial Work?

The IPL Photofacial targets deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen growth. As the building block of healthy skin, collagen can strengthen and smooth the skin, as well as cause blood vessels to constrict, reducing redness. During treatment, the IPL machine will feel like a small rubber band snapping against your skin, which may cause minimal discomfort, but is very tolerable. One treatment takes only about 30 minutes to complete, which makes it a great “lunchtime” treatment. It is recommended that most patients undergo 3-5 treatment sessions over the course of several months to ensure optimal results.

Can You Benefit from an IPL Photofacial?

So, how do you know if this treatment option is right for you? The best way to determine your candidacy is through a consultation at our office. However, if you can agree to the following statements, you can probably benefit from an IPL Photofacial.

You Want to Prevent Signs of Aging

If you are looking to treat or prevent signs of aging such as age spots and sun spots, rosacea, facial slushing, large pores, dark under eye circles, of fine lines, you may be able to benefit from an IPL treatment. Because this treatment actually stimulates collagen production in the skin, results will be natural-looking and long-lasting.

You Want Fast, Natural-Looking Results

Results from an IPL Photofacial are noticeable about seven days post treatment and will continue to improve after each treatment session. Results are natural-looking, so you’ll look like you, only younger!

You Don’t Want A Lot of Recovery Time

IPL Photofacials require little to no downtime, making it a great option for those with busy schedules. Most patients only report mild redness after treatment, and makeup can help to camouflage any dark spots that may be noticeable until they begin to fade after 7-10 days.

You Are Not Pregnant

Patients who undergo an IPL Photofacial treatment should not be pregnant or breastfeeding, as it is not known how this treatment may affect the unborn child.

Who is Not a Good Candidate for an IPL Treatment?

Individuals with tanned skin or those with naturally dark skin may not be the best candidates for IPL Photofacials. This is because this treatment may result in hyperpigmentation or uneven pigmentation issues in these individuals. During your consultation, our team will thoroughly evaluate your skin color and health to determine your candidacy. Be sure that you are in overall good health and do not have any active infections or open wounds on or near the treatment site.

Is there Preparation for an IPL Photofacial?

Prior to the IPL treatment, patients should avoid excessive sun exposure, self-tanners, and tanning before for 2-4 weeks. You should be very diligent about applying sunscreen every morning to help protect your skin. Also, to avoid bruising, it is recommended that you do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or Aleve for one week prior to treatment. Also, stop using any skincare products that contain Retin-A at least one week before. Our team will provide you with specific pre-treatment instructions to help ensure optimal results.

Is There Downtime Associated with the IPL Photofacial Treatment?

One of the greatest benefits of the IPL Photofacial treatment is that there is little to no downtime after treatment. Because it uses multiple wavelengths of light instead of laser energy, IPL does not negatively affect the outer layers of skin, making recovery much quicker than traditional laser treatments.

If you are interested in learning more about the IPL Photofacial treatment at Jupiter Dermatology & Hair Restoration, contact our Jupiter, FL office today to schedule your consultation appointment. Also, don’t miss out on our fall special; enjoy 25% off any IPL package! Our team, including Dr. Ricardo Mejia, board-certified dermatologist, will ensure that an individualized treatment plan will be created for you to ensure that your individual aesthetic goals are addressed and met. Our goal is to ensure that each patient received the professional and personalized treatment they deserve.

Get the Most out of Your Chemical Peel Treatment

Chemical peels are a great way to rejuvenate your face or improve more severe skin concerns by removing damaged layers of skin, revealing healthy skin underneath. When it comes to treatment, there are a few things you’ll want to ask yourself when choosing the type of peel that’s best for you. By considering these questions, you can get the most out of your chemical peel treatment:

Do you have a skin condition?

Common skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or rosacea can be worsened by a chemical peel. If you suspect you have one of these or another skin condition, you might not be the best candidate for any type of chemical peel. However, you can talk with Dr. Mejia about other treatment options!

What are your concerns?

The next thing you should consider is how severe your skin concerns are. If you experience mild pigmentation concerns, rough texture, or an over-all dull appearance to your skin, you could benefit from a superficial peel, the mildest formula. If you have severe symptoms like deep wrinkles, sun damage, and age spots, you might require a deep peel for the most significant improvement! If your somewhere in-between with moderate signs of aging and blemishes, a medium peel might be just-right for you.

How much time do you have to recover?

The deeper the chemical peel, the more side effects, recovery time, and post-op care required after treatment. So, if you want to rejuvenate for an event in the near future, you might want to choose the superficial peel to get glowing skin without any severe redness or peeling. If you decide to go for a medium or deep peel, just keep in mind that you will likely experience more swelling, redness, and peeling after treatment. Many patients like to avoid social events until their skin has healed. No matter which type of peel you choose, be sure to avoid sun exposure for the first month or two as your skin will be extra sensitive while it heals.

Our board-certified dermatologist at Jupiter Dermatology can examine your skin and discuss your concerns to determine which type of peel is best for you. To schedule your consultation with Dr. Ricardo Mejia, contact our office today.
